Some of the most beautiful islands in the world, the San Juan Islands are a cluster of many large and small islands sprawling at the southern end of Georgia Strait just below the Canadian border. Orca whales make their home in the San Juan Islands typically from late April through the end of September. The major islands enjoy regular ferry service from the main lands of Washington State and Sidney, BC on Vancouver Island. There are large marinas on the major islands including San Juan, Lopez, and Orcas. It is a spectacular boating area with lots of interesting ports and quiet coves for boaters to enjoy. There are many waterfront homes with docks capable of handling both small and large yachts. Just a great place for a boater to live and enjoy life.

I live in a wonderful Whidbey Island boating community named Mariners Cove. Our home is on a canal with a 60' dock where I moor Meridian, a 46' Knight & Carver sports sedan. I am a member of the Oak Harbor Yacht Club and on the Finance Council for St. Augustine's Parish. I am focused on providing real estate services to owners and buyers of boating community properties in my area. Whether buying or selling properties, please give me a chance to help you. Its what I do.
FRIDAY HARBOR The Port of Friday Harbor greets visitors by ferry, private boat or seaplane. Friday Harbor is the commercial hub of the San Juan Islands and has a large marina capable of handling any size yacht. It is also a tourist haven during the summer months. Friday Harbor has many waterfront homes and condominiums with private docks as well as town homes within walking distance to the marinas. In addition to the two marinas highlighted below, there is also the Shipyard Cove Marina. Island living at it's best! Home prices range from the high $200's to over $4 million.
ORCAS ISLAND Deer Harbor on Orcas Island is a popular boating destination offering moorage, supplies, lodging and dining for boaters cruising the San Juan Islands. It has a modern 100+ slip marina with available year around moorage. The area has many waterfront homes some with private docks. It is about a twenty minute drive to Eastsound, the commercial center of Orcas Island with casual to fine dining, boutiques, and art galleries. There is regular ferry service to Anacortes and inter-island. Besides Deer Harbor, Orcas Island has a number of destinations for boaters, but limited permanent moorage. Fortunately, there are waterfront homes with private docks. There are a few smaller marinas including West Sound Marina and Cayou Quay Marina. Home prices on Orcas range from around $300,000 to over $5 million.
ROCHE HARBOR The charming boat community of Roche Harbor sits on the northwest side of San Juan Island and enjoys a large deep-water marina. It is a boater's mecca during the summer months. Listed on the National Register of Historical Sites it is approximately ten miles by land from Friday Harbor. The harbor will take you back in time to a quiet, relaxed pace as you stroll the beautiful Victorian gardens and enjoy the ambiance of the historical buildings. Besides the marina, there is an airstrip, grocery store, restaurants, a hotel, a few shops and water-oriented activities. It has many homes and condominiums, some with private docks. Home prices range from around $300,000 to over $4 million.
SAN JUAN & LOPEZ ISLAND Outside of Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor, San Juan Island has miles of waterfront with many homes with private docks. Listed here are homes with private docks on San Juan Island. Lopez Island is home to many artists, craftspeople, and musicians. It is a community of over 2,000 friendly residents. Lopez does not have the marina moorage capacity of San Juan Island so finding permanent moorage in a marina is difficult. Fisherman’s Bay has the only marina, the Islander Resort, with limited year around moorage. There are a number of waterfront homes, some with private docks. Lopez enjoys regular ferry service from Anacortes and inter-island. Home prices range from around $300,000 to over $5 million.
