I live in a wonderful Whidbey Island boating community named Mariners Cove. Our home is on a canal with a 60' dock where I moor Meridian, a 46' Knight & Carver sports sedan. I am a member of the Oak Harbor Yacht Club and on the Finance Council for St. Augustine's Parish. I am focused on providing real estate services to owners and buyers of boating community properties in my area. Whether buying or selling properties, please give me a chance to help you. Its what I do.
JOHN WAYNE MARINA Sequim has become a popular retirement area mainly because of its dry sunny climate and varied recreational opportunities. The Sequim-Dungeness Valley gets an average of 16 inches of rain per year, less rain than San Francisco, and only a little more than Los Angeles. The population of Sequim is less than 5,000, however, over 20,000 of the County's approximately 65,000 residents live in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley. For boaters, Sequim is home to the modern John Wayne Marina with 280 boat slips. Look for a home on the property above the Marina or buy property and build your dream home. There are also a few homes in the area with private moorage. Home prices range from the low $200's to over
$2 million.
PORT ANGELES The Port Angeles Boat Haven Marina has 520 boat slips for power and sail vessels of all sizes. Just cross the Strait of Juan de Fuca and you are in the San Juan Islands or the City of Victoria, BC. Downtown has a number of good restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries. Rising high above the city is snow-capped Hurricane Ridge, the most popular feature of Olympic National Park. The city is also proud of the award-winning Port Angeles Symphony and the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center. The Olympic Medical Center provides state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical facilities. The negative: good homes near the marina are hard to find and there are no homes with private docks. Home prices are generally in the $200,000 to $600,000 range.
PORT HADLOCK The small boating community of Port Hadlock is surrounded by the natural beauty of the peaks of the Olympic Mountains and the blue waters of Puget Sound. The area is rich in history and outdoor recreation. It has much to offer boaters including a new 160-slip marina, a good restaurant and shopping close by. There are a few homes in the bay with private docks. The Inn at Port Hadlock has been recently restored providing excellent dining and lodging. Port Townsend is a 20 minute drive away as are the ferries to cross the sound to Whidbey Island. Home prices generally range between $200,000 and $1 million.
PORT LUDLOW is a residential boating community with beautiful homes and condominiums on the Eastern Shore of the Olympic Peninsula. If you are a boating enthusiast who loves the waterfront and marinas, a tennis buff, a swimmer, and/or an avid golfer, Port Ludlow has it all. You can enjoy some of the best golfing, fishing, shellfish and boating in the world right here. The 300-slip marina is fully equipped with fuel as well as a marine supplies store. There are a number of homes with private docks within the harbor. Located a few hours from Seattle, Port Ludlow provides the active boater with all the amenities of a world class resort. Home prices generally range between $250,000 and $1.5 million.
PORT TOWNSEND The quaint city of Port Townsend has a population of 8,000 and is one of only three Victorian Seaports on the National Historic Register. Port Townsend is located in the "rain shadow" of the Olympic Mountains and thus has only 17” of rain a year. The residential area above downtown with its preserved Victorian homes and the downtown mostly brick buildings are designated a National Historic District. Live in a Victorian home on the hill above town and keep your boat in one of the two marinas that have a total of over 500 slips and lots of marine services, craftsmen and supplies. Great area for wood boat maintenance and repairs. Like most communities on the open waters of the Straight of Juan de Fuca, Port Townsend does not have homes with private docks. Home prices generally range from around $250,000 to $1.5 million.
